Vente de l'œuvre décrite comme [[The celebrated and much admired Picture of Charles I. of England, In three Views, painted by the express order of the King, for Bernini the sculptor at Rome, from which the Marble Bust was taken, which was first sold, by Order of the Parliament, at the Sale of the Royal Collection of Marbles, Paintings, &c. and brought £800. sterling, and was afterwards (as Lord Orford says vol. III. p. 187, 4to. edit.) burnt or stolen at the Fire of Whitehall. This Picture was deposited by the Chevalier Bernini, in the Bernini Palace of Rome, and the complimentary Letter from Queen Henrietta Maria to Bernini, bound up in the Book of Records of that Family. When this Picture was sold out of the Bernini Palace, the Queen's original Letter was torn out of the Book of Records above alluded to, and now accompanies it.
