This charming Bijou is exquisitely finished, but is still more to be admired for the grace and elegance of its subject: It was formerly in the Collection of M Van Leyden, and was brought to this Country by an Amateur of Rank and distinguished Taste. It has ever been cited as the chef d'oeuvre of Old Mieris, by far the rarest Master in the Dutch School (Francis or the Old Mieris)|L'Enfileuse des Perles. This Picture, described by Ridolfi, v. 1, p. 306, was painted for the Count Bevilacqua of Verona, in whose Family it has remained till it was purchased from them by the present Proprietor. The celebrated Marquis Maffei in his description of Verona speaks with admiration of this piece. It is also described by Cochin in his "Voyage Pitturesque." The following capital Pictures were purchased by a Gentleman during a late Tour in Italy. (P.
