  • 1813.03.19/ maison de ventes : Del Vecchio (James). Vente de l'œuvre décrite comme [[View of the Waterfall of Tivoli This Landscape is a Specimen of the Master. The Sky is beautifully varied; the Distances tastefully managed, with all the truth of Nature, by the fine keeping and aeriel perspective so skilfully preserved. In the centre of the Picture is a rich piece of Architecture, on the cite of Cicero's Villa; to the left, the Town of Tivoli, from which the cascade falls into a deep dell, interspersed with woods and rocks, such as the picturesque Scenery of that country affords. To the right are various figures and animals beautifully arranged, and admirably painted, with that vigour of pencil and execution, which point out the works of this great Artist, who studied many years in Italy, and gained a scientific acquaintance with Architecture, from which additional power, his Pictures are highly esteemed in every part of Europe (Isaac Moucheron)|View of the Waterfall of Tivoli This Landscape is a Specimen of the Master.
