The figures of Van Balen are remarkable for the beauty of the drawing and the richness of the carnations, uniting the force of Rubens with the elegance of Vandyck. The Landscapes by Kierincks are the most suitable scenery in which such splendid objects can appear. The Accessories, often introduced by Van Kessel, enhance the value of the Picture, as they increase the pleasure by their endless variety, and the very beautiful manner in which they are finished. The drapery is thrown over the limbs with consummate skill. The Angels are Correggiesque in sentiment, beauty and grace.
