A grand picture in his dark Caravaggio manner, dignified in sentiment, and powerful in expression -- the hand energetically pressed upon the bosom, with the upraised air of the head, give a most noble and commanding attitude to the figure, which seems actually instinct with life, whilst the broad and graceful folds of the drapery, combined with the solemn breadth of light and shade, render it altogether a picture of most amazing force, and a Chef D'Oeuvre of Art (Guido)|David playing on the Harp. 5 f. 3 in. h. -- 4 f. 6 in. w.
