It was painted by order of the Grand Duke of Tuscany for the King of France. The composition is consummately fine; the painting is as full of the fire of his pencil, as the combatants seem to be of rage: there is not known to be in any galley of Europe, a finer work by this very great artist. His name is written in full, near a foot soldier on the left of the composition (Savator Rosa)|A Grand Charge of Roman Cavalry upon Moorish Infantry. One of this master's chef d'oeuvres. It was painted by order of the Grand Duke of Tuscany for the King of France.
