Vente de l'œuvre décrite comme [[The Death of Nelson -- the celebrated Picture to which the premium was awarded by the directors of the British Institution -- engraved by Bromley It represents the Great Naval Hero extended in the Cockpit, mortally wounded, and giving his last orders to Captain Hardy before he smiled on his friends for the last time, and expired without a groan. -- It is further valuable from the fidelity with which the bye-standers, Dr. Scott, Mr. Burke, Dr. Beatty, Sir Thomas Hardy, Lieutenant Yule, Lieutenant Bligh, and Mr. Collingwood, are pourtrayed. -- The lantern light with which this awful scene is relieved is managed with excellent effect (A. This admirable Gallery Picture has been engraved by Burnet (Atkinson)|The Battle of Waterloo, a View of this memorable contest taken at the moment when the French, after their last desperate effort, were compelled to retire in disorder. -- In the front ground, the Portraits of the Duke of Wellington, the Marquis of Anglesea, the Duke of Brunswick, the Prince of Orange, Field Marshal Blucher, Sir Thomas Picton, &c. are introduced, and beautifully executed by the late Mr. Devis.
