Vente de l'œuvre décrite comme [[A Bitch and Puppies in a Stable, and a Donkey looking in at the Door Note by Mr. Pratburnon. -- "The eccentric Morland having purchased a young ass at Smithfield for seventeen shillings, carried it to his apartments in a hackney coach, with his head out of the window, and formally introduced the young donkey to his favourite bitch Ninny, who had two puppies; the consequence was a snarl at the unwelcome visitor, and Morland, being struck with the subject, painted this picture on the spot."
