The Painter has happily pourtrayed on canvass the celebrated lines of Gray, "The lowing herd winds slowly o'er the lea." The effect is that of the moment when "fades the glimmering landscape on the sight," and is most ably given. From the circumstances under which these Pictures were painted, they may be presumed to be chef d'oeuvres of the Artist (Towne)|A Ditto Landscape -- Evening.
