This Picture has been ascribed to various great Masters, viz. Terburg, Cuyp, Teniers, Metzu, Jan Stein. This Van der Meer, although hardly known in this Country, is a very great Master in the manner of Metzu; his Works are very scarce, and they are more known and appreciated in Holland than in any other Country, where his Works bring very large prices. This great Master made the effect of Sunshine his particular Study (Van der Meer, of Delft)|A Quack Doctor, with numerous Figures assembled in the Market Place of a Town in the Low Countries.
