Size, 6 feet 4 inches wide, 4 feet 7 inches high, exclusive of the frame. A grand and masterly composition of Seventeen Figures, finely grouped. The story is admirably told -- a strong and appropriate expression is given to the principal characters, and a powerful tone of harmonious colour pervades the whole Picture. This splendid production of Art has ever been considered to be one of the most perfect and valuable specimens of Titian, known in this country, and is in the same state of purity in which it might be presumed to have left the Easel of the Painter.
