Vente de l'œuvre décrite comme [[This fine Landscape is presumed to represent a portion of the Forest of Soigpes and the surrounding Neighbourhood, with a distant glimpse of Brussels in the extreme back ground. In the middle distance, near a lake, a peasant is driving cattle; and in the fore ground a party of pleasure, with musical instruments, appear to be sitting down to enjoy a rural concert. The lustre cast over the whole scene by the matchless brilliancy of the sky cannot be surpassed; and may be said to be unequalled. From the collection of John Webb, Esq. This extraordinary Picture was purchased from the Painter by the Duc de la Force, for 12,000 livres, and subsequently sold by him to the Duke of Chandos, for £500, as appears in the Duke's hand-writing at the back of the Picture -- from the collection of the Earl of Besborough (James Anthony Arlaud)|Jupiter and Leda; from the celebrated Basso Relievo, of the same size by Michael Angelo.
