  • 1829.05.16/ maison de ventes : Christie's. Vente de l'œuvre décrite comme [[The Farewell Picture, produced by these two brotehr artists, previous to the departure of Andrew for Venice, to commemorate their final separation. It represents a picturesque site, with mountains, from which water falls in two torrents, forming lower down a cascade, which running under a wooden bridge, loses itself between the trees and shrubs behind the foreground; on the road of which the two brothers are seen on horseback, tasking their final leave. This capital Picture is in its native purity and preservation, being yet on the original straining frame on which it was painted. It is from the well known collection of Feitama Vottenhovem, of Amsterdam, and is more amply described in the preface of Ploos Van Amstel. Vente de l'œuvre décrite comme [[A Landscape, view near the junction of two Roads; one of which, turning off to the right, is lost in a mass of wood, where an elderly Peasant in a red bonnet is conversing with another having a dog beside him; upon the other, to the left, a Traveller on foot is hastening through an open heath to a village not far distant; and other figures are seen in this direction. The extreme rarity of Rembrandt's Landscapes, and the surprising clearness of this grand specimen, stamp it with the highest value; the figures are by the pencil of Teniers (Rembrandt)|A Landscape, view near the junction of two Roads; one of which, turning off to the right, is lost in a mass of wood, where an elderly Peasant in a red bonnet is conversing with another having a dog beside him; upon the other, to the left, a Traveller on foot is hastening through an open heath to a village not far distant; and other figures are seen in this direction.
