  • 1837.02.08/ maison de ventes : Foster (Edward). Vente de l'œuvre décrite comme [[A Dutch Fair at Night; in the foreground is a provision booth, in which a woman is drawing coffee, and near is a boiling kettle, with a girl sitting on a trunk; in the background is seen the bustle incidental to the time and place. The composition of his picture is so remarkable that it may be supposed it was painted in emulation of the marvellous Night School by G. Douw, and it is no small praise to Haanen to assert he has effected a perfect harmony of the different lights, and finished the whole with elaborate care and great success. (G.G. Haanen)|A Dutch Fair at Night; in the foreground is a provision booth, in which a woman is drawing coffee, and near is a boiling kettle, with a girl sitting on a trunk; in the background is seen the bustle incidental to the time and place.
