Vente de l'œuvre décrite comme [[The Interior of an elegant Apartment, in which is a young Lady dressed in white satin, sitting by a Table covered with a rich tapés, upon which is a vase and pearl necklace. She is reading very attentively a letter brought by a woman, who is standing by her side waiting for an answer. The figure of the young Lady is full of expression and beauty. Our Saviour is seen standing in the river, and receiving on his head the baptismal water from the hands of St. John, assisted by two Angels. A great multitude of people witness this ceremony, at which the Almighty is seen presiding, surrounded by Cherubims and an auriole of glory. *The upper part of this picture has been unfortunately injured in bringing to this country; it may easily be restored (on copper) (Rottenhamer)|The Baptism of Jesus.
