Note at the back of the picture. -- "This beautiful and elegant little picture is undoubtedly a sketch of COrregio, which has never been painted, and supposed to have been a design with that of the Madonna della Scudella, in the Cathedral at Parma; the subject is the same, except the Virgin, which is this is infinitely more elegant, as well as the disposal of the Ass.
